Weaving with Cattails

I rarely get a request for natural hand twisted rush, but this year I have three! No luck finding a supplier so, off I go to the marshes.

After gathering what I hope is enough for three seats, I have dried the cattails for about a month and a half or so.

Next I wet portions in a big damp sheet wrapped in plastic overnight and then I weave with them the following morning. Here’s a seat mid progress:
